Teaching
The Institute proposes regular 5-years M.A. studies in the following domains:
African studies,
Arabic, Hebrew,
Indology, Iranian,
Japanese, Korean,
Mongolian studies,
philology of the Ancient Near East, Sinology
and Turkology.
Post-graduate studies in East European and Central Asian countries are offered by the
Centre for East European and Central Asian Studies.
The Institute proposes also evening studies and extramural studies in
Japanese and in cross-cultural relations.
The library of the Institute is the biggest oriental library in Poland. In the end of 1999,
there were 194 205 vols. (153 789 books and 35 188 periodicals). Most of them are
available in the department libraries.
Each year, the library acquires some 3 000 new volumes.
The reading room gives access to all the volumes, and offers the possibility of
consulting volumes from different libraries of the Polish Academy of Science,
as well as items of special value, such as manuscripts.
Several specialized reviews are regularly issued in the Institute:ad
