Faculty Specialist Laboratories

Faculty of Oriental Studies provides 4 specialist laboratories:

Languages Lab – headed by professor Nina Pawlak (ph.d.); standing body: dr. Irena Kałużyńska and dr. Iwona Kraska-Szlenk;

Literatures and Cultures Lab – headed by professor Danuta Stasik (ph.d.), standing body: dr. Janusz Krzywicki and professor Iwona Kordzińska-Nawrocka (ph.d.);

Philosophies and Religions Lab – headed by professor Joanna Jureiwcz, standing body: professor Katarzyna Pachniak (ph.d.), dr. Shoshana Ronen, dr. Ewa Siwierska;

History and Socio-political Issues Lab – headed by professor Ewa Pałasz-Rutkowska (ph.d.), standing body: dr. Teresa Halik, dr. Paulina Lewicka.

1. Faculty specialist labs provide the following oriental seminar:

  • 1st year of post-graduate course, 2 semesters per 10 hours with final annual exam (4 ECTS-credits);
  • Held once per month, on Wednesdays (respectively: Philosophies and Religions Lab, Languages Lab, Literatures and Cultures Lab, History and Socio-political Issues Lab), 2 full hours, from 16.30 to 18.30, in Schayer Room (A+B);
  • Final oral exam (15-min. presentation on an individually chosen subject, accepted by head of a lab or her representative; given by a student in front of a minimum 3-person commission; answering questions).

2. Methodology Subject:

  • 1st year of post-graduate course, 2 semesters per 30 hours with final annual exam (5 ECTS-credits);
  • Faculty provides to students of each lab at least one methodology subject recommended by head of a lab;
  • Students are allowed to take another subject as a methodology subject from out of Faculty of Oriental Studies, with prior permission of Vice-dean for students affairs (submission of positive opinion of supervising professor is a must).

3. Main subjects to chose:

  • 1st year of post-graduate course, lecture or exercise, credit or exam, 60 hours, at least 4 ECTS-credits;
  • A student chooses a subject out of subject offer of Faculty of Oriental Studies or University of Warsaw;
  • Faculty subject offer is available on the Faculty website.
